Join the 2025 Springtown BioBlitz and Help Discover Local Biodiversity!

Ever wonder what’s hiding in your local nature preserve? A BioBlitz is an exciting, community-driven event that brings together scientists, naturalists, students, and curious individuals to identify and document as many plant and animal species as possible in a short time frame. It’s not only fun but also helps provide valuable data for conservation and ecological research.

On Saturday, April 26, Alameda County Resource Conservation District (ACRCD), in partnership with the City of Livermore and Swaim Biological, invites you to the Springtown Preserve in Livermore for our annual BioBlitz! Participants will explore the unique alkali sink habitat of the preserve—home to rare and threatened species like fairy shrimp, California tiger salamanders, unique plants, and diverse birdlife.

Whether you’re an experienced citizen scientist or simply someone looking to learn more about local wildlife, this event has something for everyone. You can help collect data using the iNaturalist app or join informative sessions led by naturalists who will explain the ecology and conservation efforts underway in the area.

Come be a part of this global biodiversity effort, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute to important conservation work right in your own backyard!

RSVP today and discover the natural wonders hidden in Springtown Preserve!
